Local swimmers took part in Spring Off the Blocks Invitational

The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently competed in Barrie at the Spring Off the Blocks Invitational.

Thirty-six swimmers from senior novice, bronze, silver and gold training groups were in attendance.

This meet offered a fun costume relay for the swimmers to participate in at the end of the competition.

Ten-year-old Harrison Levene won all five of his individual events, which were 100- and 50-metre breaststroke, 50-metre backstroke, 50- and 100-metre freestyle.

A number of swimmers from Orillia placed within the top eight in their individual events:

Indiana Abram (second, 50-metre backstroke, 50-metre butterfly)

Nadine Ackert (seventh, 100-metre individual medley [IM])

The Channel Cats will be competing May 14 at the Orillia Recreation Centre, followed by a long-course competition in Markham May 20 to 22.
