Channel Cats shake off the cobwebs in first swim meet of season

Kael Cresanto, 13, placed second overall in the male 50-metre freestyle eliminator as the Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club opened their competitive season at the Milton Marlins Dash for Cash Invitational.

The first meet of the season gives swimmers the opportunity to remember what it is like to race, get the cobwebs out and learn what their focus needs to be going forward, a news release said. Swimmers raced in six individual events over the two-day competition. 

This meet offered a 50-metre freestyle dash for cash eliminator for the top eight finishers in the 13, 14 and 15-and-over age groups

 Nadine Ackert, 13, placed third overall and Maelle Bouchard, 13, placed sixth overall in the 50-metre races.

Swimmers in attendance included: Riley Shore, Boyd Brown, Kael Cresanto, Grace Hunter, Sophie Brown, Cohen Greer, Adair Wieclawek, Mila Sekleski, Hayden Nie, Taryn Fenton, Christopher Dorevich, Catherine Shaw, Maelle Bouchard, Gabby Marques, Rydaar Watt, Sophie Shivers, Isabella Brown, Leah Guller, Caden Stuart, Emma Edgerton, Ava Fairgrieve, Kamryn Light, Fedor Radzievskii, Katie Heckendorn, Harrison Levene, Georgia Cameron, Evangeline Cooke, Anna Holton and Nadine Ackert.
