The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently had a member compete at the Speedo Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships in Windsor.

Taryn Fenton qualified in the 50m butterfly, and was able to compete against some of the fastest swimmers in eastern Canada.

Taryn was close to her personal best time at the competition, and enjoyed the process leading up to the meet.

“Taryn works hard at practice and is determined to keep improving,” said head coach Meredith Thompson-Edwards.

The club’s next competitions will be The Bell Canadian Swimming Trials held in Toronto (March 28 to April 2) where Blythe Wieclawek will be competing against Olympic-level athletes.

The event will showcase the highest calibre of Canadian swimmers competing for National Team selection.

Teammates will be cheering her on from afar while preparing for the Orangeville Otters Long Course Invitational held in Markham (March 31 to April 2).
