The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently competed at the Region of Waterloo Swim Club Long Course Invitational, held at Wilfrid Laurier University. Twenty-four swimmers from Orillia were in attendance.      

Blythe Wieclawek broke the 13/14 girls long course 50 butterfly club record (29.96) and Indiana Abram set a new record in the 11/12 boys' long course 200 meter butterfly (3:13.16).    

The following swimmers qualified for additional events at Long Course Regionals: Jackson Denne 100 metre backstroke, Adair Wieclawek 50 metre butterfly, 400 metre freestyle, Katie Heckendorn 100 metre backstroke, Evangeline Cooke 100 meter breaststroke, Anna Holton 200 metre Individual Medley and 400 metre freestyle.        

Other swimmers in attendance include: Chilyn Fenton, Rachel Carr, Sayre Hart, Hannah Kennedy, Olivia LePage, Meagan Mackenzie, Nathan McClinchey, Holly McCool, Owen McCool, Hayden Nie, Peyton Nie, Meghan Rogers, Esmee Rosati, Tristan Sekleski, Evan Wagner, Erik Vurma and Megan Widmer.    

The local club will be heading to Laurentian University for The Jeno Tihanyi Long Course Regional Championships at the end of May.
