The Orillia Lakers novice house league program wrapped up with some exciting basketball action last Thursday.

After 10 weeks of skills and games, which saw all the teams evenly matched, the teams took to the court for the medal round. The most exciting game was a sudden-death overtime duel between the Flames and the Buckets.

Owen Clarke of the Flames made the winning shot to send his team to the gold medal game vs. the Fierce Potatoes. The gold medal game featured an early surge by the Fierce Potatoes and a valiant comeback attempt by the Flames. Ultimately, the Fierce Potatoes prevailed 14-10.

In the bronze-medal game, the Raptors managed to cruise to victory over the Buckets who were missing a couple of key players.

The Orillia Lakers have a couple more house league sessions coming up. The first is for boys and girls in Grade 5-7, which runs for 12 weeks starting on February 6.

The second is a 10-week session for Grades 1-2 boys and girls starting in April.
