The 2018 Orillia Lady Kings house-league season got underway at the West Orillia Sports Complex Monday night and action was fast and furious as teams from U8 through to U15 had to start the season all on the turf field only as grass fields were not yet ready to be used.

In Little Lady Kings play, Pepper Haulage and Scetto Construction had a hard-fought battle with the haulage group eking out a 3-2 victory. Alexandra Fagan scored a pair while Lily Robbins had a goal and assist for the victors. Wynn Morgan and Payton Smiley added assists. Amelia Scetto and Olivia Mathieson scored for the construction crew. Game 2 would see TD Canada Trust defeat Mariposa Landscaping by a 5-2 margin. Scoring for TD Canada Trust was Makenna Fairchild with a pair while Kyah Thompson, Eiley Hayes and Madeline Hoover chipped in with single markers. Ellie Lynch scored two goals in the loss for the landscapers.

U11 action would see a pair of close games as Sunshine BBQ would escape with a narrow 4-3 victory over Telford Property Management. Hayley Ball with a pair, Anna Fagan and Evynn Stanford cooked up single markers for the winners while Emma Dongelmans, Alison Rolston and Allyson Glass replied with goals in the loss. R&F Construction would earn a 3-1 win over Freeman’s AutoSource as McKenna Maracle, Mira Cresanto and Brook-Lynn May would score to help Rayne Noganosh earn the win in net.

Because of the field situation, U13 action would have to see a combined team effort from combining Peak Engineering and Tryon Construction teams together as they would have to face off against the Champlain Ready Mix and Bradley Homes crew for this week. Scoring goals in the game were Madison Kenny, Grace McLelland, Clare Wilson, Kate Beausoleil and Izabelle Marino.

Regular house league action resumes next Monday with a full slate of games at the West Orillia Sports Complex starting at 6 p.m.
