Kings bring home gold from Thunderhawks Tournament

Orillia Sherwin Williams Kings brought home the gold medal from the recent Niagara-on-the-Lake Thunderhawks Tournament.

In the first game, Orillia defeated Toronto Beaches by a score of 3-0. Orillia's offence was led by Spencer Shropshire (1g, 1a), Jack Davidson (1g ), Lucas Lynch (1g), Wilson Mackey (1a). Joe Fitzgerald earned an assist and the win in the net.

In game 2, Orillia took the lead early and never let down, taking the win over Halton Hills 2 by a score of 8-3. Orillia's points were spread between Shropshire (2g, 2a), Mackey (2g ), Lynch (1g, 1a), Zachary Clarke (1g), William Tibbett (1g ), Hudson Bown-Downie (1g), Ben La Hay (2a), Dylan Woodrow (1a), and Nolan Hutchinson (1a ). Great defensive playing by Scott Barkley, Jack Hedges and Carson King.

Orillia went on to win game 3, defeating Pelham 1 8 -2. Points went to Barkley (2g, 1a), Mackey (2g), La Hay (1g, 1a), Davidson (1g, 1a), Shropshire (1g), and Hedges (1g). Wesley Brain took the win in net.

The semi-final game against West Durham saw the Kings win 6-1. Hedges was on fire with three goals and one assist. Also scoring were Shropshire (1g, Ia), Woodrow (1g 1a), Davidson (1g), Clarke (1a), Mackey (1a), Lynch (1a), and Barkley (1a). Kyson Campbell and Cole Eckstein played strong defence. Fitzgerald earned the win in net.

The final game vs Niagara-on-the-Lake had the Kings winning the gold medal. The game started off fast with Shropshire scoring in the first  44 seconds; he tallied two goals and an assist. Also scoring were Clarke (2g), Davidson (1g, 1a), Mackey (1g 1a), and La Hay (2a). A stellar defence was led by Barkley, Hutchinson and Campbell. Fitzgerald took the win in net.

The Orillia Novice Sherwin Williams Kings are coached by Marty Groves, Clay Hedges, Dan Lynch and Paul Tibbett.

The boys have started the season off strong with a 12-0 record. They will be playing in the Boyd Balkwill Tournament in Orillia and area on June 22 to 24.
