Before the Orillia Kings' practice Tuesday night, Chris Walser shared the importance of the spirituality, the meaning, and the history of the game. The players participated in a smudging ceremony, and medicines were shared. The Kings open the first round of the playoffs Saturday in Nepean.

The Mister Transmission Orillia Jr. B Kings ended their season with a split in their final two games as they concluded the regular season with an 8-12 record.

After losing to the West Durham Ironheads 9-6 on Saturday night, the Kings rebounded to beat the Brampton Excelsiors 10-8 on Monday night.

The Kings were tied 3-3 with West Durham after the first period on Saturday, but after getting outscored 6-3 in the final two frames the Kings were left looking at a loss.

Jesse Ashkewe and Alex May lead the way on the scoresheet with a pair of goals each while Colsen Maracle and Byrcen Murray each notched singles. Murray picked up a pair of assists while singles went to Zach Clarke, Noah Quarrington, Jack Marwick, Gabe Neely, Sam Neely, Jake Curran and Carson Thayer.

The Monday night matchup saw a whole host of Kings hit the score sheet in the win over Brampton which is a good sign as they head into a very tough first round of the playoffs.

Captain Noah Quarrintgon found the net with a pair of backhands, Ashkewe scored two and Trent Tibbet (Dapper Depot player of the game) scored a beauty, cutting through the middle on a pass from Gabe Neely and picked up an empty netter to seal the deal for the Kings. Gabe Neely, Sam Neely, Jake Curran and Brycen Murray potted singles.

Assists went to May (3), Gabe Neely (3), Sam Neely (3) and Maracle (2), while Hayden Goldthorp, Ethan Marwick, Carson Thayer and goaltender Quinton Greenfield picked up singles.
