Lady Kings entertain with tight games, high-scoring affairs

Field lacrosse club's house-league program featured action-packed games in U9, U11 and U13/U15 age categories at West Orillia Sports Complex

The Orillia Lady Kings house league was at it again with exciting lacrosse games on Monday night.

In the U9 division the Northern Elite Lacrosse team came out firing the ball with eight goals in a win over the BMO Nesbitt Burns team, which tallied four goals of its own. The winning team was led by Isabelle Ouellette-Darling with four goals, and strong support by Harper MacDonell and Georgie Suddaby, who each scored two goals. BMO Nesbitt Burns kept itself in the game with two goals by Payton Viherjoki, and one goal each from the sharp-shooting Matilda Walker and Kayla Beard.

The Stoutts RE/MAX team battled hard with St. Louis Bar and Grill. After back-and-forth action, the tight game ended in a 3-3 tie. Goals for RE/MAX were scored by the strong speed of Isabella Beaudin, Scarlett Stoutt and Addison Atkinson, while St. Louis Bar and Grill responded with its own blazing goals by Norah Belviso, Baileigh Brain and Arabella Cooper.

In U11 action, the 2nd Century Source for Sports team arrived all fired up, scoring seven goals in a win over BMO Nesbitt Burns, which scored two. The winning team was led by Kylie Homan, Charlotte Cronshaw and Rebekah Lacroix, who each scored two goals, while Mya Favaro found the back of the net with a goal as well. Remarkable assists by Violet Whelan, Brooklyn Reed and Maggie Devine. BMO Nesbitt Burns worked hard to score two goals of its own by Leighton Mainer and Maple Cuthbert.

The fans were on the edge of their seats for the game between Team Micks and the Hillson Eyerillians. Team Micks came out on top with a 3-2 win, with a pair of goals by Langley Duffy-Wilkinson and a single by Mara McKinney. The Hillson Eyerillians fought hard with goals by Lillian O’Link and Karis Davies, and an assist by Ivy Lowery.

Finally, the U13/U15 teams had some intense lacrosse action. Mariposa Landscaping dug deep to dominate with a 8-3 win over BMO Nesbitt Burns. Ellie Lynch, Rayne Noganosh, Kaelyn McDonald and Willow Davidson each had a big goal, while Morgan Parnell and Makenna Maracle fought hard for a pair of goals each. The BMO Nesbitt Burns team worked hard to stay in it, with solid goals by Ashleigh Hester, Mira Cresanto and Emersyn McLaughlin.

Mid Ontario Disposal and Strachan and Morris Insurance entertained the fans with a barrage of goals, in a 9-5 game. Mid Ontario Disposal came out on top with Hayley Ball, Evynn Stanford and Jadyn Maracle each netting a pair of goals, with singles tallied by McKayla Ruyter, Katie Bunting and Anna Fagan. Strachan and Morris Insurance goals were scored by Ryley Black, Camryn Knee and Alison Rolston, and a pair of goals by Brooklyn Page.
