Lady Kings show improvement as house league season hits midway point

Teams battle it out at the West Orillia Sports Complex and show vast improvement with their skills

ORILLIA LADY KINGS LACROSSE

We have reached the half way point of the Orillia Lady Kings Houseleague lacrosse season and it is great to see skill improvement and excitement as the season progresses, and Monday night's action is a great indication.

Starting play on Monday was Scetto Construction edging Pepper Haulage by a narrow 5-3 margin. Ryleigh McGuire would lead her team with two goals with single markers going to Amelia Scetto, Hannah Hester and Leiah Krynicki. Alexandra Fagan would respond with her own two-goal effort in the loss with Lily Robins also providing one goal as well. Game two would pit Mariposa Landscaping against TD Canada Trust and the game would end in a 3-3 tie. Bray Lachapelle with a pair and a single from Emily Bell would match the efforts of Kyah Thompson, Eiley Hayes and Makenna Fairchild in the well played match.

Emma Dongelmans would score three goals in a winning effort as Telford Property Management cruised to a 7-3 victory over Sunshine BBQ in U11 action. Cameryn Knee would chip in with a two goals effort as well and Emma Pilger and Alison Rolston replied with markers as well. Anna Fagan would notch a hat trick in a losing cause.

Game two would end in a tie as well as Freeman’s Auto Source and R&F Construction fought hard but ended in a 4-4 tie after regulation time. Mira Cresanto constructed a two-goal effort for R&F while Kaelyn McDonald and Mia Wakelin added goals as well. Kayleigh Toby paced the auto crew with her two-goal effort as well and Emersyn McLaughlin and Allyson McMullen also found the back of the net in the game.

In U13/U15 house league action, Champlain Ready Mix would pick up their first win of the season with a narrow 6-5 win over Peak Engineering. Sophie King would earn player of the game recognition for her three-goal, two-assist effort. Grace Yakeley would also record a two-goal, two-assist night and Melanie Decock would round out the winner’s points. Not to be outdone, Jessica Sattler would score three goals while Hailey Decock and Kingsleigh MacPherson rounded out the scoring in this game. Tryon Construction earned an 8-1 win over Bradley Homesas the two goal efforts of Sarah Fagan and Montana Kenny paced the construction crew to the win. Haley Glass, Paige Paddon, Elle Reed and Sierra Tryon scored markers as well. Hailey Irwin was the only Bradley Homes player to beat Clare Wilson who earned the win in net.     

In U13/U15 Elite division action, West Street Storage found their winning ways as they gained a 12-8 win over Kutting Edge Promotions Inc. Three-goal efforts from Ryin Davidson and Hannah Rudge helped goaltender Brooklyn Barker gain the victory in net. Kennedy Clarke with two and singles from the sticks of Rebekah Kee, Avery Paek, Katie Wilson and Jayden aided in the win. Brooke Sonnenberg had herself a game as well recording a four-goal, one-assist effort in the loss. Makayla Clarke would chip in with her own hat trick effort and a single marker from Amelia Obee rounded out scoring statistics in this game.

Finally, a barn burner as TJS Sheet Metalwould outlasted Royal Lepage – Dan Parnell squad earning a narrow 10-9 victory. Three-goal efforts from Kayleigh Aitkens, Kieran Goldthorpe and Melanie Smith highlighted the action. Olivia Glass would pick up the win and Chloe Columbus added her own marker to secure the win. Sydney Shawyer did her best to help her team stay in the game recording a four-goal effort while Karley Eckstein replied with three goals as well. Eleanor Waite and Alaina Vandenberg would also add goals for the realtors.
