A local basketball team started their season outside of the gym and in the spirit of giving!

This past weekend, members of Dr. McIntosh’s Orillia Junior Women's Lakers team got in the spirit of the season by getting together to pack 40 Christmas Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

These shoeboxes, full of supplies and presents, will be delivered to children living in circumstances of war, poverty, and natural disaster around the world. Thanks to Carolyn for attending and sharing her experiences. They also appreciate the efforts of those involved in helping garner the extra donations of clothes, supplies etc.

After the packing and a gift exchange, the girls took advantage of the get together at Rotary Place to challenge the Rock Wall. Members of the team are Ellery Ingersoll-McNeely, Kaitlyn Roberts, Isabela Fleguel, Lauryn Buchan, Lauren Murphy, Ashley Schryer, Taylor Bechthold-Coon, Carolyn Jones and co-captains Hennessy Langer and Emma Thomson.

The local Lakers start the season in Huntsville Dec. 7, where they will be looking to gain bragging rights of the Near North against the Bracebridge Breakers and host Huntsville Hurricanes in the mini tournament.
