Orillia Lawn Bowling Club season will start May 23; registration event taking place May 19

Lawn bowling is back in Orillia after a two-year hiatus prompted by the pandemic.

The Orillia Lawn Bowling Club has announced its new season, featuring friendly and competitive action, will begin May 23, with regularly scheduled lawn bowling taking place Monday to Saturday.

A registration meeting will take place May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse at 5 Commerce Rd., between Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School and Orillia Fire Station 2.

The season will include six fun tournaments and four competitive invitational tournaments.

The club will host an open house May 28 and 29, when people can watch demonstrations of the sport and check out the facility, where the club has been housed for 40 years.

Anyone who wants to try the sport is welcome. All they need are flat-soled shoes.

Free lessons are available to help people decide if lawn bowling is for them.

You can register online at orillalawnbowls.ca.

More information can also be found on the club’s Facebook page.
