Robb Barsevich of the Orillia Lawn Bowling Club, with pairs partner Betty Robitaille of the Midland Lawn Bowling Club, scored an eight-ender at the mixed pairs tournament in Stayner on June 14.

This is a feat akin to a hole-in-one on the golf course or an eight-ender in curling — truly amazing and a career first for both very accomplished bowlers.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Orillia club kicked off its lawn bowling season with its first Fun Day Tournament, sponsored by Mitchell Shaw of The Co-operators. Twelve teams of pairs took to the green, welcoming many new bowlers for their first time ever in a tournament. Great fun for all.

First place went to Steve Collins and Val Chalmers, second place went to Sue O’Neill and Nancy Earle, third place went to Jane Barlow and Paul Stewart, fourth place went to Harold Graham and Pauline Stewart, fifth place went to Brian Minns and Merry Lynn Fleming, and the consolation went to the duo of Alf Baird and Mary Campbell.
