The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently hosted the Huronia Regional Short Course Championships at the Orillia Recreation Centre.

Over 350 swimmers from across the region were in attendance over the three-day competition.

“This was our club’s first time in history hosting a championship meet. We are grateful that things ran smooth and that we had a lot of support from our co-host, the Orangeville Otters, as well as many dedicated volunteers from across the region. This competition took months of behind-the-scenes planning, and we worked well with the facility and aquatic staff. We made a great team,” says head coach Meredith Thompson-Edwards.

Orillia swimmer Anna Holton, 16, qualified for Ontario Youth Junior Championships in the 100-metre backstroke, and Harrison Levene, 11, qualified for Ontario Winter Festivals in the 50-metre freestyle.
