Muskoka brothers to compete at world water-skiing competition

Five Canadians are set to compete at the 2023 International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation World Open, Under 23 and Junior Barefoot Waterski Championships in Mulwala, Australia from Feb. 15 to 19, 2023.

Two Canadians will be in attendance as judges at the event.

Two sets of brothers will be competing alongside each other at the world championships. Sickinger brothers from Muskoka and Midena brothers from Mississauga will be competing alongside each other and against each other in the junior boys division at the world championships.

Gordie Croteau from Windsor is the fifth Canadian competitor, rounding out an all-Ontario team going to the World Barefoot Championships.

Open team:

Gordie Croteau (Windsor), competing in open men tricks and jump.

Junior team:

Simon Sickinger (Muskoka), competing in junior boys slalom and tricks

Alex Sickinger (Muskoka), competing in junior boys slalom and tricks

Alex Midena (Mississauga), competing in junior boys slalom and tricks

Vincent Midena (Mississauga), competing in junior boys slalom and tricks

Canadian officiating at worlds:

Duane Godfrey (Mississauga)

The semifinals will take place Wednesday, Feb. 15 to Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 and finals will take place Saturday, Feb. 18 to Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023.
