Orillia Channel Cat swimmers make a splash in Bracebridge

The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently competed at the Muskats Splash Invitational held in Bracebridge.

The local club had swimmers brand new to competing as well as more experienced swimmers (who wanted to try a different event) in attendance at the competition. Junior Novice, Senior Novice, Bronze and Silver training groups participated in the meet.    

“We had 15 Junior Novice swimmers participate, which is the highest number from that group we’ve had at a meet in years,” says coach Tatum Haslem. “The swimmers seemed to really enjoy the meet experience and didn’t let their nerves take over.”

“Going forward, we hope to see more younger/beginner swimmers at meets in order to build on the competitive side of the sport,” says Coach Elaine Thompson.      

Swimmers in attendance include: Eve Cosco, Sadie Cooke, Brynn Munday, Charlee Tillmanns,Cameron Tillmanns, Chelsea Currie, Ella Cansino, Maelle Bouchard, Andrew Dilawri, Brooke McGillivray, Indiana Abram, Rebecca Mascioli, Kael Cresanto, Grace Hunter, Arabella McFarland, Kieran Henshall, Angus Henshall, Olivia Favaro, Emma Mackillop, Emony Fisher, Katie Heckendorn, Alexander Baillie, Kiera Hornby, Kaia Hornby, Zach Sternberg, Ayan Rau, Kate Sontag, Kaitlyn Allin, Olivia Currie, Kajun Butler and Sophia Brown.
