Orillia Channel Cats keep their cool while hosting competition

Ava Fairgrieve sets club record at Muskats Splash Meet

The Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently hosted the Muskats Splash Meet No. 3 at the Orillia Recreation Centre.

Clubs from Bracebridge, Peterborough, Owen Sound and Collingwood were in attendance. The local club had 58 swimmers participating in the meet, from the junior novice group up to silver.

A handful of swimmers participated in their first competition of the season and did not let their nerves get the better of them.

Ava Fairgrieve, 10, set the first 10-and-under 200-metre butterfly club record at the meet.

“I am proud of Ava’s efforts over the last few weeks of training, and she isn’t afraid of a challenge, which is awesome,” says her coach, Tatum Haslem.

All swimmers are to be congratulated for their efforts.
