NEWS RELEASE
ORILLIA CURLING CLUB
********************
Curling has a rich history in Orillia. It dates back to 1865 when Scottish brothers John and James Jackson curled on Lake Couchiching using wooden stones.

The Orillia Curling Club began in 1873 on Coldwater Street East. Now members curl at the Barnfield Point Recreation Centre.

Today, the club’s members enjoy day and evening leagues, coaching, and pay-to-play options. The club runs bonspiels throughout the season and recently hosted the curling events for the 2024 Ontario 55+ Winter Games.

Join us on Saturday, March 23 to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary. During the day, watch our teams compete for the ‘Day of Champions’ league titles. In late afternoon, partake in our on-ice activities from 4:30 to 6 p.m.. Festivities will include the presentation of Bill Stevenson’s historical Governor General’s jacket by his family.

Please visit the Orillia Curling Club website to sign up for the on-ice challenges — kids’ rocks, closest to the pin throws and more! All events are free.

Please bring a donation for the food bank. Bring cash for the silent auction and raffles for awesome prizes. Food and drinks are available for purchase.
