Some of the Orillia Figure Skating Club's young members have had some recent success at major events

The Orillia Figure Skating Club is celebrating some recent success.

Ben Anderson recently won gold for Star 5 Men U10 at provincials while Ner K Pru Shee (2nd Star 4 Girls U13 Group 3), Marnie Martell (1st Star 4 Girls O13 Group 8), and Holly Warner (2nd Star 4 Girls U13 Group 8) hit the podium at the Milton Frost competition in March.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Hailey Irwin has been named skater of the month.

"Hailey has passed her Gold skills, Gold dances and completed her Gold freeskate test this past winter. She skates on the Orillia Figure Skating Club enhancement team and is coached by Tracey Zwiers," a release from the Orillia Figure Skating Club noted.

While some of the younger skaters attended provincials, members of the adult program had the opportunity to attend on- and off-ice training sessions with renowned Canadian figure skater Kurt Browning.

The club has also announced it will be hosting the Bring on the Fun competition for Skate Ontario, beginning on April 29 at Rotary Place in west Orillia.
