Local squad won four of five games en route to capturing the title at the massive tournament in Barrie

ORILLIA HAWKS SENIOR B LADIES

The Orillia Hawks Senior B ladies team won gold over the weekend in the Senior BB division of the Barrie Sharkfest.

In Game 1, Orillia defeated the Clearview IceCats 3-1. Carly Payne was credited with a pair of goals and Aimee Tindale added a single tally, while assists went to Jillian Armstrong, Caitlin Kubiseski and Mikayla Rae.

In Game 2 vs. Wilmot Wolverines, it was another victory for the Hawks - by an identical score of 3-1. The goals were scored by Emily DeCock, Carly Turner and Crystal Ferguson assisted by Carly Marshall, Jillian Armstrong and Caitlin Kubesiski.

Game 3 against the Barrie Sharks ended in defeat as Barrie prevailed 3-2. Hawks' goals were scored by Emily DeCock and Caitlin Kubesiski assisted by Danielle Jeffreys, Caitlin Kubesiski and Jasper Thomson.

The team was victorious in the semi-final game against the Barrie Sharks thanks to a score of 2-0. Goals were scored by Carly Payne and Jasper Thomson and assisted by Danielle Jeffreys, Carly Payne and Jasper. Gaby Mondelli was credited with the shutout in net.

The championship game was versus the Wilmot Wolverines and ended in a 4-1 victory for the Hawks. The first Orillia goal was scored by Danielle Jeffreys, assisted by Jillian Armstrong. Goal 2 was scored by Laura Kennedy, assisted by Jill Armstrong and Danielle Jeffreys. Jessi Cranney notched the victors' third goal, assisted by Megan Allore. The final goal of the game was scored by Mikayla Rae assisted by Jillian Armstrong.

Goalie Gaby Mondelli was solid in net all weekend, keeping the girls in position for the victories.
