Orillia Lady Kings house-league action heats up (12 photos)

There was plenty of lacrosse action at West Orillia Sports Complex this week ahead of house-league championships, which take place next week

It was a perfect evening for lacrosse Monday, when the Orillia Lady Kings house-league games got underway again.

In our U9 division, our Little Lady Kings showed how much they have improved this season by battling to close games. The Stoutts Re/Max team had a strong showing against Northern Elite Lacrosse with a close 6-5 win. Re/Max goals were scored by Scarlette Stoutt, who blasted a hat trick, Isabella Beaudin with one, and Beya Beaudin with two. Northern Elite goals were scored by Georgie Suddaby (1), Isabelle Ouelette-Darling (2) and Harper MacDonell (2). Baylee Barker made a great pass for an assist.

BMO Nesbitt Burns cornered the market with a big 5-2 win over St. Louis Bar and Grill. Caleigh Basta and Payton Viherjoki each scored two goals, while Matilda Walker made her own magic with a single marker. St. Louis responded all fired up with goals from Norah Belviso and Svea Bat.

In the U11 division, Team Micks roared with enthusiasm as they crept by 2nd Century Source for Sports with a score of 9-7. Team Micks was led by Langley Duffy-Wilkinson with three goals, while single markers were tallied by Adeline MacDonell, Emma Morton, Avery Saunders, Harper Simpson, Hayden Daly and Mara McKinney. Isla Quinn made a couple of great passes for two assists. Lucy Edwards had a strong game for her team. 2nd Century was led by Rebekah Lacroix and Charlotte Cronshaw, who each scored hat tricks, while Kylie Homan netted a single. Morgan Mansfield and Brooklyn Reed both tallied assists, while Reed played strong in net.

BMO Nesbitt Burns came out firing the ball in its win against the Hillson Eyerillians. Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong led the game with three goals, while Leighton Mainer and Chloe Crittenden scored singles. Eve Mittermayer was strong in net and Emily Taylor had an assist. The Eyerillians made their mark on the game sheet with one goal by Julia Drury.

The U13/15 teams showed their grit in tight games. BMO Nesbitt Burns made good investments with two goals each by Mira Cresanto, Emersyn McLaughlin, and Billie Rouse, in their 6-5 win over Mid Ontario Disposal, while Elyse Faulkner helped with an assist. Mid Ontario goals were scored by Jessica Noganosh (2), Hayley Ball (1), Mya Roe (1), and Jadyn Maracle (1), with an assist by Anna Fagan.

Mariposa Landscaping clearly delivered a big win over Strachan and Morris Insurance. Mariposa won 7-4 with goals by Ava Rouse (2), Kaelyn McDonald (2), Rylee-Lynn Daly, Morgan Parnell (1), and Ellie Lynch (1). Rayne Noganosh helped with two assists, as did Parnell and Rouse. Strachan and Morris worked hard to stay in it with two goals by Camryn Knee and two goals by Alison Rolston. Assists were marked by Ryley Black, Molly Bergeron, Kaelyn Drennan and Olivia Weaver.

House league wraps up next week with championship games in all divisions.

A big congratulations goes out to the U19 Lady Kings, who put on a great show of lacrosse for our younger players on Monday. A special shout-out to our U19 coaches, who coached a full night of house league and went on to win in their game against their rivals from Oshawa.
