The Orillia Lakers U14 Boys completed a perfect 12-0 Ontario Basketball League season this weekend in Hamilton, winning pool C.

In the opening game of the weekend, the Lakers failed to make a single three-point shot against the Durham Gators zone defence. They still managed a 53-45 win thanks to great passing both on the fast break and inside the zone.

The Lakers continued to struggle from outside, making only one shot from beyond the arc against the Mississauga Monarchs. Once again, the Lakers made up for it by dominating the interior, with Caden McFee and Kelechi Nwokeke combining for 42 points. The Lakers defence was excellent, as usual, in a 61-47 win.

After a forfeit win in the third game of the weekend, the table was set for a showdown with CKATT from Mississauga, who was also undefeated in pool C play. The game was close throughout the first half, but the Lakers opened up a double-digit lead early in the second by repeatedly turning defensive stops into fast break points. The Lakers managed the game well down the stretch with great ball control and team defence holding on for a 57-51 win.

The Lakers are now 36-4 overall in their age group. They would like to thank their sponsors, JL Construction, Oscar's Variety and Market, 125 Breakfast, Master Lube, and IRP Industrial Rubber, as well as Peak Performance Fitness, for weekly training.
