NEWS RELEASE
ORILLIA TENNIS CLUB
*****************************
The safest sport during a pandemic is also one of Orillia’s fastest-growing sports: tennis! Your Orillia Tennis Club (OTC) has been growing in membership, activity and programming every year over the past four years and they are growing again.

With new programs and even newer challenges, like the inter-county club competition (of which we are the reigning champs), your OTC has something for everyone from beginning youth to adult enthusiast. For those who have been playing for some time, ladder leagues and open tennis nights really help to test your skills against others.

Now, why mention this as the snow starts to fly? Well, your Orillia Tennis Club is once again breaking new ground. We know many in the community are looking for ways to stay safe and active during the pandemic and we know others are not migrating away this winter. We know we are in the middle of a pandemic and people are looking for alternatives to gyms to stay fit and, more importantly, to be COVID safe. This year more than ever before, winter tennis just makes sense. Its time is now!

Your OTC is looking to find an indoor tennis facility. We are hoping to repurpose a large indoor space, whether it be a factory, garage, warehouse, or not-in-use commercial property. Your Orillia Tennis Club is seeking such a space to use this winter to meet the needs of our community in a growing pandemic.

Think of it — learning to play tennis indoors all winter long, continuing the summer leagues you were already involved with, joining something new in the new year. The winter fun is endless.

Our safety protocols, some of the strictest in the province, can be found on our website and will be in full force protecting you this winter. But we can’t do this alone. We need your help.

If you know of a property or, better still, own or manage such a property and would be open to discussion of the matter, please contact our club president, Kevin Smith, at [email protected].

Our community can come together, meet this health challenge head on and respond in a unique way that could pave the way for other winter opportunities that would benefit the entire community. Contact us today with your indoor space location, help us smash COVID at the net and work off the winter weight.
