Teams showing improvement early in field lacrosse season

Despite missing many of our coaches for the evening due to the Trillium Cup, players worked hard in all age divisions to overcome the heat and battle to some great games.

Thank you so much to all the coaches that were able to cover off for our teams.

In the U7 Little Lady Kings division, the Kutting Edge pink team edged out the BMO Nesbitt Burns team, scoring 12 goals over their 10. Kutting Edge goals were scored by Palmer Mainer with a hat trick, while Kamryn Curtis, Monroe MacIntosh, Lucy Gammon and Audrey Gammon scored two goals apiece. Katrina Calabretta and Rylee Murphy helped with assists. The BMO Nesbitt Burns bright green team answered back with a hat trick by Hadley Elliot, two goals each by Zoe Beaudin and Matilda Walker, and single goals scored by Gracie Fess, Ophelia Collins and Camden O’Connor. Their team had big help from Liv Davis, Eleanor Damery-Giannunzio, Hannah Brain and Quinn Laughlin, who each had an assist.

The U9s showed dedication in their hard-fought games. The 2nd Century Source for Sports was a source of frustration to the Stoutts RE/MAX team as they beat them 3-1. Winning goals were scored by Delilah LaFraugh and Isabella Beaudin. Assists were marked by Norah Whelan, Scarlett Wilson and Svea Bat. The Stoutts RE/MAX battled back with a goal by Addison Atkinson, on assists from Olivia Hopkins and Haddie Buchner.

Other U9 action showed a second 3-1 win by Millwood Logistics over Northern Elite. Millwood goals were scored by Harper MacDonell with two and Isabelle Oulette-Darling with one. Arabella Edwards helped with two assists while Maeve Runk had an assist of her own.

Our U11 division continues to spark, with Atmosphere Electric charging up a 4-2 win over St. Louis Bar and Grill. Vivian Lauren scored three goals for the winning team, while Isla Horder added a single. Lila Philips helped with an assist. St. Louis Bar and Grill fought back with two goals by Isla Quinn and an assist by Cara Georgas.

Tryon Construction continues to build their record with a 6-3 win over Champlain Ready Mix. Winning goals were scored by Abigail Catterall and Leighton Mainer with two each, and Violet Whelan and Quinn Wilson with one goal apiece. Champlain Ready Mix answered with two goals from Brielle Hodgkinson-Armstrong and a goal from Brooklyn Reed.

In our U13/U15 division, the Mid Ontario Disposal gold team dumped in the goals to defeat the Strachan and Morris light pink team with a score of 6-0. Kaydence Thompson scored two goals for the winning team, while single tallies were scored by Molly Bergeron, Kyah Thompson, Rayne Noganosh and Mya Roe. Assists were marked by Emily Taylor and Jana Ball with two. Ava Wara demonstrated great team play and strong defence for the Strachan and Morris team.

Finally, the Mariposa Landscaping team dug deep and came out on top of the Atmosphere Electric green team in a 10-2 win. Goal scorers for Mariposa included Billie Rouse, Katie Bunting, Anna Fagan and Chelsea Currie with two goals each, and Langley Duffy-Wilkinson and Lily Robbins with a goal each. Atmosphere Electric goals were scored by Evynn Stanford and Kaelyn McDonald, with an assist by Mya O’Brien.

All teams are showing great improvement as they get ready for their next game Monday evening.
