Registration now open for Orillia Lakers house league program

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, basketball is back and will mark the Lakers move to their new home at the Orillia Recreation Centre
The Orillia Lakers are happy to announce that registration for our Grade 3/4/5 house league is now open!

Our House League programs are for players who wish to learn the fundamental skills and principles of basketball in a recreational environment.

Fall session of Lakers House League:

Fall Grades 3,4 and 5 starts on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Orillia Recreation Centre. Separate sessions for boys and girls. Cost is $150 per player. Space is limited to 20 players per group. (Waiting list will be created for next session)

The fall house league session will have 10 weeks of separate female and male, skill focused and recreational instruction. The main goals are teamwork, sportsmanship, fair play, and introduction to competition. Each week the participants will be given progressive skill development opportunities both individually and with their team. Coaching and supervision will be provided by certified basketball coaches and experienced high-school basketball players.

Being prepared for our House League Programs

All players are asked to wear a mask, comfortable athletic clothing, indoor running/basketball shoes, and bring a full water bottle to stay hydrated. Players will receive a Lakers reversible shirt that we ask to be worn each week as well as their own basketball that we ask to be brought weekly.

The program will start promptly at the designated start time; participants are asked to be fully dressed and ready to start at this time. Due to recreation centre policy, we ask participants to come no earlier than 15 minutes prior to start time.

Due to recreation centre restrictions and capacity limits, only one parent is able to stay in the facility viewing area and you will need to adhere to the COVID-19 requirements of the Orillia Recreation Centre.
