Rushmount riders shone at weekend competition, and one even raised money for a great cause

Rushmount Pony Jumper Team had a great placing all around during their weekend competition, on June 7 and 8.

Mikayla Burns, riding I Love Lucy, took a second place in the speed class and an eighth place in the $500 MarBill Pony Jumper Classic.

Hayden McCahon, riding Silver Rush, took home four ribbons, including a fourth, eighth, eighth, and third in the Marbill $500 Jumper Classic.

Sydney Freeman took home third in the Optimum Time class, and Ellie Ratcliff, riding Moody Blue, won ninth in all four classes.

On June 9, Rushmount Show Team took to the road with eight horses and riders to compete in the Jumper Division at Essa Agriplex.

Some highlights include Devon Catlin on Trompe earning Lemond Reserve Champion of .90m jumpers. Hailee Vandusen, riding Ever So Clever in the 1.10 meter jump also placed.

Meanwhile, Kaylin Clarke, on Silver Rush, took home first place in the class three immediate jump-off out of 26 riders.

Mallory Harris, Tori Beacheim, Sophie Naylor, Cheryl Poitras and Chelsea Rutledge all had amazing rides.

The team consists of riders that are with new equine partners as well as first-time Trillium competitors.

Rushmount will be host to the next Georgian Bay Trillium show at 1773 Cambrian Road on June 22 and 23rd. 

Lastly, over the weekend Lily Bolt won the Grand Prize for gathering the most donations for kids with diabetes. She raised $1,800 for the cause and won a $500 shopping spree.
