The Orillia Youth Basketball Association (OYBA) will once again run its popular Junior Lakers program for boys and girls in grades 1 and 2, beginning April 10, 2018. The entry-level program is designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and healthy environment.

“The Junior Lakers spring session has proven to be one of our most popular programs,” says Ted Dongelmans, president of the OYBA. “With the increasing interest in the sport of basketball, parents have been eager to sign their children up. It’s an affordable activity that fosters team play while learning in a supportive setting.”

The weekly lessons are modeled on a curriculum built by NCCP-certified Lakers coaches, and include instructional time as well as games. Participants use smaller basketballs and play on lowered, adjustable hoops. In addition to receiving their own basketball, each participant will also get a T-shirt.

The Junior Lakers session runs for 10 weeks, from 6 to 7 p.m. for participants in Grade 1 and 7 to 8 p.m. for participants in Grade 2. For more information and to register, please visit www.orillialakers.com.
