This past weekend, the A U15 Orillia Terriers travelled to Rochester, N.Y., to challenge themselves at an AA tournament against our American neighbours.

The reigning Ontario champions had a successful weekend going undefeated to take the prestigious Presidential Power-Play tournament gold medal.

In their first game they defeated the host Rochester team 3-2, with a dramatic goal by Johnny Norris in the last second of the game.

In the second game, the Terriers, though undersized, beat a determined Michigan State team 7-3.

The next day Orillia had to battle both an aggressive team and tough officials, but again came out victorious with a 3-0 win over a New York State team. Big shout-out for the shutout from Carson King.

The fourth game was another nail biter, but the Terriers came out with a 3-2 win over the Grosse Ile Islanders from Michigan.

That set up a final versus Grosse Ile again. Despite a tight first two periods, Orillia was eventually able to pull away with a 7-3 win using great teamwork and uncharacteristic discipline.

This team’s balanced attack and stellar defence shone throughout this tournament. The teams stats confirmed the team play, with every single forward having multiple points and both goalies sharing netminding duties with five wins.

The U15 boys will be heading to the playoffs next week, in pursuit of defending their Ontario title.
