Terriers reign over visiting Kings at their new 'dog pound'

Orillia Jr. C squad, sparked by two-goal efforts from pair of forwards, skates to second straight win at Brian Orser Arena

Playing at Brian Orser Arena has not cooled off the McLean & Dickey Orillia Terriers.

The local Jr. C squad, forced out of their home rink at Rotary Place due to issues with a heat exchanger, won their second straight game at the new ‘dog pound,’ defeating the visiting Penetang Kings 6-3 Saturday night in front of about 135 hockey fans.

Captain Dylan Palomaki and Josh Brown each paced the attack with a pair of goals, while singles were tallied by Mason Beck and Colton Dumond.

Orillia built a 2-1 advantage after 20 minutes, stretched the lead to 4-2 after two periods en route to the well-deserved triumph.

Wade Monague backstopped the victory, stopping 31 of 34 shots. The Terriers outshot the visitors 42-34.

With the home-ice win, the Terriers improved to 7-2 and are just three points behind first-place Stayner in the North Carruthers Division.

With the loss, Penetang fell to 2-6 and now sit in sixth place in the eight-team division.

The Terriers will face a tough test when they return to league action Friday night in Alliston. The Hornets are 8-2 and are always tough at home.

Next Saturday, Orillia will host the winless Caledon Golden Hawks (0-10) in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Brian Orser Arena.
