Yesterday, the BMO Nesbitt Burns Orillia Lady Kings senior team travelled to Kitchener-Waterloo's RIM Park to play back-to-back Ontario Women's Field Lacrosse matches against Toronto Beaches and Orangeville Northmen and managed to come away with a pair of victories.

A focus on defence is paying off as after play this weekend, the Lady Kings have a stingy 4.0 goals against average while boasting decent offensive output at 11.25 goals for.

Leading the attack in game one would be Kiah Shanks notching four goals and Camille Vibert scoring a pair as well. Single makers and assists from Annie Lloyd, Kelsi Pritchard, Rachel Mochulla and Jordan Kummer. Emily Van Kessel earned the win in net in the 10-2 victory. Sarah Wood and Camryn Kelly played well in a defensive role.

Next, the Lady Kings would face off against their toughest opponent to date in the Orangeville Northmen. The game was a back and forth affair with both teams keeping pace with each other. Orillia would have a narrow 4-3 lead at the half off goals from Kiah Shanks and Jordan Kummer both scoring a pair.

The scoring would continue in the second half as the Orangemen would gain a 7-6 lead eventually and that would finish off the scoring for the Northmen as Kelsi Pritchard would score the game tying and eventual game winning marker as the Lady Kings would finish strong despite playing back-to-back with a hard fought 10-7 victory.

Final scoring stats would see both Shanks (3G) and Vibert (3G, 1A) both leading the attack while Kummer (2G), Pritchard (2G, 1A) and Annie Lloyd (1A) making the scoresheet.

Emily Van Kessel played very strong in net and was aided by strong defensive presence by Morgan Vickers, Kaitlin Van Kessel and veteran Kendall Boyd moving Orillia to 4-0 early in the 2019 season.

Next weekend the Lady Kings travel to Brampton to play Six Nations and Oshawa Lady Blue Knights.
