The Mid-Ontario Disposal U13 A Terriers captured their division title at this weekend's Jim Wilson Winter Classic in Orillia.

In game 1, on Friday morning, the U13A Terriers defeated Oshawa 5-0 with Sam Weaver picking up the win and shutout in net for the Terriers. Game 2, Friday afternoon, saw the Terriers continue their strong play with a 6-0 victory over North Bay. Landen Clements was in net for this one picking up the win and shutout for Orillia.

In the first elimination game on Sunday morning, the Terriers once again faced Oshawa. They continued their winning ways and stingy defence with a 7-0 win; Clements was in net, recording the victory and another shutout.

In the semi-final Sunday afternoon, the Terriers faced Temiskaming. This game proved a much tougher test but the Mid Ontario Disposal Terriers prevailed with a 3-1 victory. Sam Weaver was in net for the win.

This advanced the Terriers to the final on Sunday evening against the neighbouring Oro Thunder.

This game showed that both teams deserved to be in the final with a thrilling and extremely entertaining back and forth contest. Oro struck first with the only goal of the first period.

Orillia battled back, scoring three in the second period with Oro adding a single, resulting in a 3-2 Orillia lead heading for the third period.

In the third, Oro netted two goals including a late tally with their goalie out. With Orillia scoring once in the third, the game ended 4-4 after regulation which resulted in a shootout. Both teams extended the drama and entertainment for the fans by taking the three-player shootout to extra frames as six shooters for each team were required to finally get a winner.

Orillia won the shootout 2-1, resulting in a 5-4 victory over Oro for the U13A title at the Orillia Jim Wilson Tournament. Sam Weaver stopped five of six shots in the shootout for the Terriers. Casey Raven scored the first goal of the shootout for Orillia with Eric Shellswell scoring the shootout, game and tournament winner for the Terriers.

One of the reasons for the success of the Mid Ontario Disposal U13A Terriers hockey team in taking the Jim Wilson tournament title was contributions from the full roster, as every skater recorded at least one point over the five games and both goalies recorded victories and shutouts.

Over the weekend the goal scorers for the U13A Terriers were Caden Cheslock, Casey Raven, Eric Shellswell, Josh May, Brock McKay, Izzy Cansino, Doug Loucks, Kyson Campbell, Jackson Long, Craig Scott and Stevie Skentzos. Assists went to Hudson Inglis, Preston Tryon, Ben Lacroix, John McLeod, Josh Dimmelow, McKay, Cheslock, Long, May, Raven, Shellswell, Loucks and Scott.

The U13A Terriers would like to thank Rob Blasdell of 2nd Century Source for Sports for going above and beyond by springing into action on Sunday morning to very quickly remedy an equipment issue that would otherwise have sidelined one of our goalies.
