The Orillia U18 Team Micks Terriers captured top spot in the York Simcoe Hockey League Saturday, with an impressive road victory.

The Terriers travelled to Markham to play the Waxers with the hopes of solidifying their lead at the top of the York Simcoe standings. It was the final game for Markham which has been on a hot streak while battling for the fourth and final playoff spot.

After a brief ceremony recognizing the last home game of the season for Markham, it was the Terriers that appeared motivated from the opening puck drop. The Terriers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and then scored four unanswered goals in the second period to take a commanding 6-0 lead.

The Terriers then got into some penalty trouble and held on for a 7-2 win.

Goals were scored by Kevin Demules (3), Connor Flannery (2), Sam Reda and Brock Jefflels. Assists were tallied by Jhett Winkel (2), Whyatt Winkel, Cam Carruthers, Jonah Teahen, Brock Muise, Ty Snellman and Reda.

Tucker Northcott earned the win with a solid performance in net.

The Terriers will wrap up the regular season Wednesday when they host third-place Innisfil in an 8:50 p.m. contest at Rotary Place in west Orillia.

With Saturday's lopsided win, Orillia has secured the first-place seed at the OMHA championship tournament April 1-3 in Whitby.
