Girls' field lacrosse season is heating up for Orillia's rep teams

The girls' field lacrosse season is heating up.

On Saturday June 10, the Millwood Logistics U19 Orillia Lady Kings went to their third tournament of the season in Burlington.

Their first game was against Owen Sound North Stars. Orillia Lady Kings played hard and came out with a 12-4 win. Goal scorers were Olivia Glass (2), Hannah Rudge (4), Riley Marwick, Isabella Cerpnjak, Catherine Varley, Makenna Maracle, Emma Marwick and Anna Lajoie.

The second game was against Guelph Regals. Orillia won 10-0. Goals were scored by Olivia Glass, Sophia Cessanese, Hannah Rudge, Brooklyn Barker, Isabella Cerpnjak, Jadyn Maracle and Kady Shelswell (2).

The Orillia Lady Kings gained some confidence by working together and winning both of their games this past weekend. Orillia returns to action this Saturday in Toronto to play Burlington Blaze and Mimico Mountainteers 1.

Meanwhile, the Dan Parnell Royal Lepage U15 team had a close game with rival Owen Sound, losing 9-7. Billie Rouse led the way with three goals and singles were added by Rayne Noganosh, Emersyn McLaughlin, Kaylen McDonald and Mya Roe.

On June 19, the Sweet Oven U11 Lady Kings team faced some tough matches due to the crossover weekend. They first matched up against Oshawa 1. The Lady Kings fought hard but unfortunately couldn’t come up with a win. Vivian Laurin was able to chip in both goals in the 13-2 loss.

Next, the girls faced the Toronto Beaches. Coaches acknowledge Violet Whelan, Lauren Bomberry, Chloe Crittenden, and Lila Phillips for their outstanding defensive performances this game. Although the defence was strong, the Lady Kings fell short again, losing 15-4. Kylie Homan took the lead on goals, scoring two, while Isla Quinn and Chloe Crittenden scored singles each.

The Orillia Sports Medicine U13 Lady Kings secured their first two wins of the season this weekend in Oshawa and are now 2-4-0 going into the second half of the season.

With Peyton Hoyt backstopping the win against Oshawa 2, the Lady Kings outscored their opponent 11-3.

Game 2 against Toronto Beaches 1 was a much closer contest. Kyah Thompson was outstanding in net and helped her team secure the 5-4 win.

Goal scorers this weekend were Kaydence Thompson (4), Ryleigh McGuire (3), Molly Bergeron (3), Elyse Faulkner (2), Kaelyn Drennan (2), Zoey Gauthier and Charlotte Cronshaw added singles.
