The wicked winter weather walloping our area has forced the cancellation of tonight's Jr. C hockey game.

The Orillia Terriers had been scheduled to host the Penetang Kings in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Orillia's Rotary Place. The regular-season game will be rescheduled.

The weather might be the only way to cool off the Terriers, who are in the home stretch of their finest season since the franchise began several years ago.

The Terriers sport a 23-10-0-3 record - good enough for second place in the North Carruthers Division of the Provincial Jr. Hockey League.

While Alliston is firmly entrenched in first place - 17 points ahead of Orillia - the race for playoff positioning is tight.

Stayner is just three points behind Orillia, while Schomberg, which has played three more games, is 12 points back of the Terriers.

The Terriers will have a chance to tighten their grip on second place when they face Stayner on Tuesday. Game time at Rotary Place is 7 p.m.
