COLUMN: We're relying on you to cover what matters in Orillia

As well connected as we are, we cannot possibly know everything that is happening in a community as active and diverse as Orillia without your help

A person is shown reading OrilliaMatters on their cellphone.

One of the most frustrating things about being an editor is hearing a complaint about a lack of coverage.

“Why didn’t you guys cover this” event or issue, a reader will lament.

Here’s the thing: As well connected as we are, we cannot possibly know everything that is happening in a community as active and diverse as Orillia.

So, rather than wait until after the fact, I implore you to let us know before-hand if you know about something important that is coming up.

If you hear there’s a demonstration about pandemic regulations, send me a quick email with some details. If you see a bunch of police vehicles somewhere, feel free to reach out and let us know.

If you think there is an issue that is not getting enough (virtual) ink, share your concerns.

If there’s a person in the community doing something extraordinary, shoot us a quick message.

Our goal is to reflect our community; to tell the stories that matter to the people that live here. It’s behind everything we do.

But we are a few among many. You are the many. No tip or idea is inconsequential. We’re relying on you!

Send your tips and ideas to [email protected]
