Businesses around the glove have been on a roller-coaster ride with forced shutdowns, new protocols, control measures, and sometimes daily changes to the way they can operate.

In Orillia, local businesses have been doing their best to weather the story. The city's economic recovery task force has stepped up to help where possible and the 'See You on the Patio' program this summer was so successful, it will return next summer.

And the Chamber of Commerce of Orillia & District has been championing a 'shop local' campaign aimed at getting people to shun big-box stores and e-commerce and to patronize local shops, restaurants and businesses.

It's important to remember that on top of the rules businesses and their customers now must follow, the provincial and regional medical officers of health are asking people not to travel to regions with higher or lower transmission rates. So people living in orange zones shouldn't go to a red zone, and likewise shouldn't go to a yellow zone except for essential purposes.

So how has this impacted your holiday shopping routines and traditions?

Let us know in the poll below.
