This week, reporter Bob Bruton examines how ministerial zoning orders are taking the authority out of the hands of municipal councils when it comes to a variety of projects.

"Local governments should be able to make their own planning decisions on residential developments, commercial projects, industrial progress and institutional expansion — without being overruled by Queen’s Park and having no avenue for appeal, often before their planning process really begins," Bruton writes.

On Wednesday, our colleagues in North Bay talk about what has become a hot topic in newsrooms everywhere: public commenting on website stories and on social media. Stu Campaigne and Dave Dale have a discussion about where we are today on the issue.

"It brings out a little bit of the worst in some people," Dale says.
