NEWS RELEASE
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
*************************
September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month across Canada. During the month of September, you will see information on how to get involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters North Simcoe throughout the communities we serve!

Big Brothers Big Sisters recognizes the importance of youth mentoring now more then ever. Over the past 18 months youth across the country have been facing increased anxiety, stress and are the most likely to bear the heaviest burdens of trauma and economic hardship. As a result, we are seeing an increase in the number of youth looking for a mentor and are in need of mentors to fill those roles.

Throughout the pandemic, BBBSNS has turned its services virtual. Bigs and Littles have become creative in how they 'meet' without being able to see each other in person, and we have adapted our group mentoring programs like Go Girls to online, and a hybrid model for School-Based Mentoring. Having the option on being virtual has helped us reach smaller communities and our Indigenous communities as well.

In North Simcoe, you will be able to find information on how to get involved in 49 local businesses, and on coffee sleeves from Grounded Coffee, Café Kittyhawk and Cheeky Mama Cafe.

BBBSNS has teamed up for the second year in a row with Inside the Game to bring The BIG Game starting at noon on September 17th at until noon on September 18th. This is a great event for gamers. The crew at Inside the Game covers the latest in gaming reviews, developer interviews, VR, gaming tech and much more. From daily news to their weekly show, Inside the Game has it all. Donations can be made at @bbbsns | Linktree

You can support Big Brothers Big Sisters North Simcoe a few ways this month including coffee from Café Kittyhawk on September 10th, a meal from Harvey’s on September 15th, Dock Lunch and Pier 21 on September 19th. These businesses are offering percentages of sales back to BBBSNS to continue to support youth mentoring in North Simcoe, and we are so grateful for their support!
