Three executive director positions working under the Town of Midland chief administrative officer (CAO) will oversee various municipal services.
Two current staff members have been promoted to fill two of the new positions, with recruitment to begin soon to fill the third position.
According to a town press release, the changes came in effect Monday, Feb. 10, making Andy Campbell, formerly director of infrastructure, the executive director of environment and infrastructure.
Amanpreet Sidhu, past interim CAO and director of corporate services and town solicitor, has been promoted to executive director of corporate services/town solicitor.
A third executive director position, community & development services, is to be filled in future.
The changes align staff resources with council’s strategic direction and the services offered by the municipality, said the release.
A regional government review and service delivery review helped the town identify what changes could be made to streamline the organization, said Mayor Stewart Strathearn.
“These adjustments, building off the changes we introduced last summer, will help us meet the challenges that come our way, while continuing to improve the services we offer residents,” he said.
These next steps not only align the corporation with council’s strategic priorities, they will also provide a structure that allows for improved succession planning and employee retention, said Coun. Cher Cunningham, chair of the human resources committee . “With some key positions being recruited in 2020, implementing this reorganization now will allow us to be more successful in filling those roles and ensure we continue to move Midland forward.”
