Ramara Township man facing pair of fraud charges

The charges stem from substantial payments to a contractor for construction work that was never started

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Orillia Crime Unit have arrested and charged a male with fraud in two separate investigations in the City of Orillia.

On Aug. 28, 2020 and Sept. 28, 2020, the Orillia Crime Unit undertook investigations in relation to frauds in which substantial amounts of money were paid to a contractor who did not start the agreed upon construction work. As a result of the lengthy investigations, the suspect was arrested today in the City of Orillia.

Scott Eisemann, age 51, of Ramara Township has been charged with:

  • Two counts of fraud over $5,000, contrary to Section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on Dec. 15, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
