Peacefully called home on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Hospice Simcoe surrounded by her family at the age of 76. She will be profoundly missed by her husband, Wayne and by her children Becky (Jayson), Janet (Glenn), Jeff (Brandy) and Kyle (Krystal). Carolyn leaves behind 10 grandchildren (Raygan, Carter, Emma, Lucas, Matthew, Violet, Hannah, Maxwell, Norah and Vera) who were the light of her life. She was the cherished daughter of the late Elmer and Janet Sears (nee Digby) and dear sister of Ted (predeceased) (Clara), Ruby (Roy) (predeceased), Elmer Jr (Shirley) (predeceased), Robert (Mary) (predeceased), Russel (Alberta) and Gordy (predeceased) (Linda). Sister-in-law of Barb (Rob), Diane (Hans), Karen (Gary), Cathy (predeceased) (Peter) and Shawn (Jennifer).  She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Carolyn will be remembered for her baking, specifically her pies, which were second to none, her caring nature and her love of people. She was a dedicated lifetime member of Marchmont Baptist Church. While her primary occupations were mother, wife and book-keeper for Wayne’s business, she found friendship and joy in her later work years at the IGA.

The family is grateful to Dr. Jacky Lai and all of the staff at Hospice Simcoe for their kindness, compassion and support provided to Carolyn and her loved ones in her final days.

The late Mrs. Abbott will rest at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Thursday, January 18th from 4 - 8pm. Funeral service to be held on Friday, January 19th, 2024 at 1 pm at Marchmont Baptist Church, 3839 Town Line, Severn. Light refreshments to follow the service.

Interment to take place in the spring at the Marchmont Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe or the Marchmont Baptist Church (cheques only for the church).
