Passed away peacefully at Leacock Care Centre, Orillia, on January 10, 2022. Beloved wife of Ernie Abbott, celebrating 70 years of marriage in August 2021, a true life partner and soul mate. Proud mother of Kimberley Meighan (Brian predeceased). Devoted grandmother of Ashley (Gary) Lindsey (Jon). Proud great grandmother of Olivia. Daughter of the late James & Prescilla Stemp and sister to Stephen (Ethel) Stemp and Gordon (Sylvia) Stemp and many sister & brothers-in-law all predeceased. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy was born April 21, 1927 in Uxbridge, Ont.. She was a member of Junior Farmers in Uxbridge growing up. During to war she supported efforts by working in a munitions factory. When she came to Orillia she worked as a window dresser for Buebes Ladies Wear. She was passionate about fashion and style and liked to design and make her own clothes. She enjoyed sports and was active in bowling and golf. She loved to travel and meeting people. She created a beautiful and loving home and a love story like no other. She was consistently seen by her husbands (Ernie) side creating an inseparable bond. Dorothy will be forever remembered for her kindness, caring and love of life. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care provided over the past 4 years at the Leacock Care Centre. The staff provided exceptional care every single day and are to be commended for their commitment to excellence in care especially during these unprecedented times. Special thanks to Suzanne and, Brenda who were there from the beginning as well as all the many other nurses and support staff. Mary Louise for her sense of humour, laughter and fun personality . You carried us through difficult times and made everything seem a bit brighter. A Celebration of her Life and interment will be held in the spring 2022.
