Ken passed away suddenly with his family by his side, at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Orillia on Tuesday December 27, 2022, at the age of 79, of Coldwater. Predeceased by his beloved wife Linda (June 2020). He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his daughter Lisa Earl (Mark) and by his grandchildren Connor and Carter of whom he was so proud. Ken will be greatly missed by his brother Dave (Donna) and sister Patricia Crawford (Allan), his sister-in-law Rosemary Athron and brother-in-law Paul Hayes (Barb Winkle). Predeceased by his sister Lyn Hayes and brother Stan Athron. Ken will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews along with many friends and neighbours.

Ken was raised in Waubaushene until they moved to Coldwater and worked alongside his siblings and his parents, Denis and Patricia Athron who owned Athron Marine Ltd. in Coldwater.

To help fulfill his day, he loved working on jigsaw puzzles, playing chess with his brother and grandchildren. Ken loved helping his friends and neighbours and was well respected in the community. An achievement that Ken was proud of, was instrumenting the petition for the traffic lights in the south end of Coldwater at Hwy 12.

The family wish to send a special thank you to Dr.’s Mitchell and Agulilar, Sarah, and Dr. Anand for their care and compassion, the Paramedics, along with the Emergency/ICU Dr.’s and staff at OSMH.

Following cremation, family, friends, and others whose lives Ken touched are invited to the COLDWATER FUNERAL HOME, Coldwater on Saturday January 7th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A family service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Fairvalley in the summer of 2023.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ken may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital and may be made through the Coldwater Funeral Home.
