Passed away peacefully at Mariposa House Hospice, Severn on Tuesday November 15th, 2022, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Barbara Bamford and the late Joyce Bamford. Loving father of Jodie Henderson (late Ross) and the late Shirley Schneller. Proud grandfather of Ryan, Jacqueline, Victoria, Nicole, Candace, Erika, Tyson, Jacob, Joshua, Benjamin, Will, Isaac, Gabriel, Nathan, Alexandra, Henry and Alice; great grandfather of Sophia, Simon, Stacey, and Maisie. Doug will be missed by Barb’s children Matthew (Huyen), Meredith (Rob), Timothy (Claire), Christopher (Kim), and their families. Dear brother of the late Len Bamford. Doug will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Doug was a proud, 32.5-year member of the Toronto Police Service and retired as a Staff Sgt from 42 Division. The family would like to thank Dr. Tillmann and the staff at the Leacock Retirement Lodge for all their compassionate care. A visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia on Saturday November 19th from 12 noon until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a reception and a time for visiting with the family.
