Dina could leave an impression on your soul.   Her life story is amazing – Sent to live with others in her infancy as her mother was chronically ill and perished when she was six.  She lived away from home until she was 11 and graduated from school at age of 13.  At the same time World War II,  began she was hired out as a farm hand until the age of 24.  Each yearly contract was a duration of one year, working each day from 5:30am to 10pm with two hours on Sunday and to attend church.

She married Piet and they immigrated to Canada in 1950.  Finding employment was difficult but they persevered until she was hired on at the Huronia Regional Hospital in 1962, she worked as a RNP until 1991 when she was forced to retire due to a deteriorating back. After the passing of her first husband in 1978,  she married  John in 1980.  They travelled extensively for the next 25 years.  John was a veteran and she was a strong supporter of Canadian troops following the liberation of Holland.   She was proud to be a Canadian.

They loved entertaining guests at their home on Bass Lake and in Brooksville, Florida.    She was always so hospitable, bringing cookies and other treats down to the lake and ensuring everyone was well fed and enjoying themselves.    Dina shared strong family values with three of her siblings and their families who also immigrated to Orillia.  She believed in helping the less fortunate, being grateful for what you have and being kind.

Dina had the ability to make you feel comfortable upon meeting her. You felt special with her.

Sadly missed and always remembered by many nieces, nephews and other dear family members.
