A consummate gentleman who touched the lives of many, gracefully departed this world on February 26, 2024, suddenly at his home at the age of 89. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Beloved husband of Gloria, Eugene's unwavering devotion to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He shared a deep bond with his daughters, Stacey Latour, and Becky Bemus (Phil), his stepchildren David Rayburn (Debbie) and Lori Olson (Lars), and his grandchildren Evan Latour and Ricky Rayburn-Halls, guiding them with wisdom and love through life's journey.

Eugene was a man of many passions. His love for the skies knew no bounds as he soared through the heavens, piloting his plane with skill and joy. A master at tinkering with engines, he could often be found in his workshop, surrounded by the hum of machinery and music.

Beyond his mechanical pursuits, Eugene had a flair for the arts. A smooth dancer on the dance floor, he swept Gloria off her feet with every step. His soulful saxophone melodies filled the air of his workshop as a soothing therapy.

In moments of quiet bliss, Eugene would enjoy the simple pleasures of life, enjoying a fine cigar paired with a glass of cognac, savoring each moment with contentment and grace.

Eugene's warmth and kindness extended beyond his family, friends, and hobbies, touching the lives of all who crossed his path. He formed lasting friendships like his companions from the Orillia Moose Hall, the cherished 'coffee shop crew,' and the Recreational Flying Association Club, where his presence will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by his sister June Bounty, brother Charles Bemus, and his parents George and Marian Bemus. Eugene leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be forever cherished by his surviving brother David Bemus, his nieces and nephews: David Bounty, Bonnie Maher, Arlene Gajewsky, Laurel Roszkowski, Marian Miller, Cynthia Harrington, Craig Bounty. Keith Bounty, and a multitude of friends.

Cremation has taken place, with a celebration of Eugene's remarkable life to be held on March 23, 2024 at Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E in Orillia. (705) 326-3595. Visitation will start at 11am followed by a celebration of life service in the chapel at 12pm. A reception will follow on site. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre, a cause close to Eugene's heart.
