Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 29 2023 in her 94th year, Eleanor Mary (Rae) Bennett.

Beloved wife of the late Herb Bennett, loving mother of Rob (Jackie), John (Laurie) and Gord (Gabi).

Cherished Grandmother to Connie (Marland), Rob (Kaitlin), Jeremy (Ryley), Jessica (Jeff), Sarah (Andrew), Stephanie (Ishwar) and Caelin (Shauna). Great Grandmother to TJ, Caeden, Logan, Ellie and Adaline.

Eleanor was born June 9, 1929 in Scotland and at age 8 she and her parents Fred and Mary would relocate to Toronto.

Eleanor graduated from business college and was in a successful career with Kodak until one fateful day she and her girlfriends decided to take a vacation to Bangor Lodge in the Muskoka’s. There she met a handsome young man named Herb Bennett who was eager to show off his new homemade boat with a sunset cruise around the lake. The unnamed boat was soon christened Eleanor and they were married a year later in 1953.

Lured by small town life they settled in Orillia where they raised their three boys. The family quickly grew to include daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Retirement would take them to a lakeside home where in earlier times they had spent their days water skiing on the bay. Both enjoyed the lake, outdoors, long walks and gardening.

Eleanor was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her love and kindness bound the family together, her favourite times were at the many family events sharing the good times and laughter.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed by everyone as she reunites with Herb(Dad) to be forever together again.

Sincere thanks to Sarah and all other medical personnel who provided compassionate home support.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be planned later this Spring. Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595.
