It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Elizabeth Burt on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in her 93rd year. Preceded in death by her loving husband Aubrey, with whom she shared a deep friendship beginning in their childhood and culminating in a 67-year marriage.
Loving mother of Richard (Tracy) and Julie (Ted). Cherished grandmother of Katelyn (Robbie), Anna (Brett) and Taylor. Born in Toronto to Irene and Edward Carter. Joan spent several years working at Remington/Rand and later at Geneva Park. She and Aubrey moved with their young family to the Orillia area and settled on Lake Simcoe. Joan took pride in being a mother and grandmother. She proudly wore the title “Granny” and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She thrived in the outdoors and appreciated the little things in life; beautiful flowers, delicate butterflies, swift hummingbirds, the sunlight shining on the lake, a cup of tea and a tasty sweet. She was much loved and will be missed.
No visitation or service will be held at Joan’s request.
