It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Brian Joseph "Beej" Coghlan born Sept. 28th 1947 at the Orillia Soldiers Hospital after a brief illness.  Brian was predeceased by his loving wife, Lucy Beland and his furry companions Buttons and Sam. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Coghlan.  Remembered fondly by his siblings Zeta Youngblut (predeceased Barrie), Marilyn Barkell(predeceased Don), Ken Coghlan (Vera) and Charlene Prince (Ken).

Affectionately known as Uncle Brian by his nieces and nephews Koreen Ryan (David), Tracey Barkell (predeceased John McGonigal), Mandy Condie (Trevor), Paula Henderson (Neal), Craig King (Leslie), Megan Prince (Adam Dick) , Kenny Prince (Hallie), Predeceased Kevin Youngblut (Carol). Brian was a close member of their families and was keenly interested in their accomplishments particularly the 20 great-nephews and nieces.

Brian was one of a kind. He was well-known in the community as a successful businessman and entrepreneur. Early on he was an avid hockey player and swimmer.  In his later years he loved fishing and travelling.

Passionate about his work and the community, Brian was easily riled but always got the job done. He was an asset to the Town of Kirkland Lake as a Councillor, always willing to share his knowledge, give advice, and lend a helping hand.

After many years residing at Nettie Lake with Lucy, he recently moved to Orillia to be near close friends, especially Bill Tinslay, a lifelong buddy.

Taken too soon, but forever in our hearts. Our thanks to the caring nurses and doctors in Orillia. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  The Kirkland District Hospital held a special place in the hearts of Brian and Lucy.  Should you wish to make a contribution in Brian’s memory, contributions can be made to the Kirkland District Hospital Foundation.
