Passed away peacefully at Waypoint Centre in Penetanguishene, on Wednesday February 10, 2021, in his 80th year. Bill leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Tracey (Chisholm), and their three “sweeties” Rachel, Christiane, and Genevieve. He also leaves his two sons, Darrin (Tina) and Matthew (Melissa). Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Rachel (Sheppard), sister Jane Walker (David) and brother Robert (Barb). Survived by brother John (Raymonde) and sister Phyllis. He will be missed by grandchildren Aidan, Savannah, Sydney and Tristen, and by his many nieces and nephews, and his close cousin Suzanne Clarke (Danby).
A long-time Residential Counsellor at Huronia Regional Centre, Bill formed many friendships with the staff and clients there and retired upon its closure.
Bill spent many years as a drummer in several different Pipe Bands. He met his future wife, Tracey, a bagpiper, at a band practice in Orillia. Together, they travelled to countless parades and competitions in Canada and the United States, and they were fortunate enough to visit Scotland, England and Holland.
Bill’s favourite season was summer - “the hotter the better” he would say. He was happiest when working in his gardens, playing golf, or just sitting and enjoying a book on his front porch, with his favourite “puppy” Macey at his side. He was a true history buff and enjoyed participating in Civil War re-enacting. Bill enjoyed the simple things in life...family time meant everything to him, and we will carry on the special traditions that we created together. Bill will be remembered by his many friends and family. We are thankful for the great memories that were made with special friends and travel companions, Christine Brodeur, Mark Tumber, and Katie Brodeur.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Waypoint Centre – Horizon Care Program, for their outstanding care and friendship as Bill battled Lewy Body Disease and finally COVID-19. Your compassion will never be forgotten.
Bill was a member of the Coldwater United Church, and it was very important to him that we raise our daughters with the love and support of our church family. Therefore, as an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Bill can be made to the Coldwater United Church and may be made through the Coldwater Funeral Home, Coldwater (705) 686-3344.
Due to the ongoing global health crisis, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. An informal Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a future time when we can gather together without restrictions.
